Household Items:Bedding,Comforters, Rugs &Linens

The big, awkward stuff that doesn't fit in your washer, handled.

Some things just don't belong in a home washing machine. Down comforters get clumpy. Wool blankets shrink. Area rugs hold a lifetime of foot traffic, pet hair, and dust that consumer laundry can't touch.

We clean the bedding and linens on-site; area rugs we hand off to a dedicated rug specialist. Either way, we make the big, awkward items easy: bring in that king-size duvet or rolled-up rug and we take it from there.

Process · 4 stages

How household is done here.

Every household order at New England Dry Cleaners follows the same 4-stage process: survey, pre-treat, clean, finish, and final inspection. Almost all stages happen on-site at 20 Elm Street, North Attleboro. Same-day available Monday through Friday when dropped off by 10:00 AM.

  1. 01

    Drop-off

Bring it in to 20 Elm Street. We will tell you up front what cleaning method is appropriate for the item.

  2. 02

    Pre-treatment

Pet stains, food spills, and ground-in dirt are pre-treated before cleaning.

  3. 03

    Specialized cleaning

Down items are cleaned and properly re-fluffed. Wool and silk blankets get fabric-appropriate cleaning. Heavily soiled pieces are processed at the correct temperature for thorough stain removal.

  4. 04

    Finish & inspection

Items are dried thoroughly, inspected, and folded or hung. Comforters come back lofty, not flat.

How often should I clean my comforter?

We recommend cleaning your comforter every season, about four times a year, and more often if you have pets, allergies, or sleep with the duvet directly against your skin. Down loses loft when oils and skin cells build up; cleaned regularly, a down comforter stays fresh and lasts far longer.

Area rugs: when to bring them in

High-traffic rugs benefit from a deep clean every 12–18 months. Wool and silk rugs in particular hold onto dust and grit that gradually grinds down the fibers.

Area rugs are the one household item we send out: they go to a dedicated rug-cleaning specialist rather than being cleaned on-site, so they take longer than our same-day work. Give us a call before you come in, especially with very large rugs, and we will talk through dimensions and the best way to bring it in.

Questions · Household

What customers ask about this service.

Yes, and we re-fluff them properly, so they come back lofty rather than flat. Most home dryers can't deliver enough air volume to dry down without clumping.
